Sound Scout brings local sound awareness alerts to Android, built for moments when headphones, focus, or distance from the phone can make sudden sounds easier to miss.

We just launched Sound Scout on Google Play: a practical Android app that helps you stay aware of sudden or loud sounds around you while using headphones, working, resting, or keeping your phone nearby.

The idea is simple. Start Scout Mode, choose the sensitivity that fits your room, and let Sound Scout monitor microphone levels locally on your device. When a notable sound level is detected, the app can surface a high-contrast screen flash and wake-screen alert so the signal is harder to miss.

Built for everyday awareness

Sound Scout is for ordinary situations where audio cues can disappear into the background. You might be wearing headphones at a desk, resting with your phone nearby, working in another part of the room, or testing a setup where you want a visible confirmation when the environment gets loud.

Instead of trying to label every sound, Sound Scout stays focused on level-based awareness. That keeps the app clear: it watches for sudden or loud sound activity, lets you tune sensitivity, and gives you alert channels you can actually notice.

What Sound Scout Pro adds

Sound Scout is free to start. A one-time Sound Scout Pro unlock adds more alert channels for users who want a stronger setup: vibration alerts, torch flash alerts, three-burst buzzer alerts, and local event history.

That Pro model keeps the app straightforward. There is no subscription layer for the core upgrade. Pay once if you want the extra local alert options and event history.

Privacy-first by design

Sound Scout is built around local processing. The app does not upload audio recordings to external servers, and local event history, when enabled in Pro, stays on your device.

That matters for a sound-awareness app. The product should help you notice events without turning the environment around you into a cloud data stream. Sound Scout keeps the core detection work on-device and makes its privacy posture visible from the start.

Important limits

Sound Scout is an awareness aid. It is not an emergency service, medical device, hearing aid replacement, security system, or guaranteed detection system. Detection can vary based on the phone microphone, distance, background noise, battery restrictions, Android permission settings, and the sensitivity level you choose.

That is why the app includes manual testing and adjustable sensitivity. A good setup starts with checking how your own device behaves in your own room.

The SunMarc approach

Sound Scout fits the way SunMarc App Labs thinks about utility apps: focused, understandable, and useful in a specific real-life moment. The app does not need an account, does not try to become a complicated monitoring platform, and does not hide the fact that user setup matters.

It is a small tool with a clear job: help people notice sudden or loud sound activity when they might otherwise miss it.
