How much of an EV battery
would your drive use?
Drive the car you already have. EV Simulator works out the energy, range, and charging cost an electric vehicle would need for that exact trip, live, from your real route. It uses your own drive—not averages from a test cycle.
Get it on Google PlayWhy your numbers—not the brochure's?
An EV's rated range and its “kWh per 100 km” come from standardized test cycles. Your drive isn't a test cycle. Hills, stop-and-go traffic, highway speeds, and how hard you accelerate all change how much energy a car uses. EV Simulator runs the physics on the trip you actually drive, so the numbers you see are for your route.
What it shows
A route-specific view of energy, battery, cost, emissions, and range
Live energy use
Energy used and consumption in kWh/100 km or kWh/100 mi update as you drive. A power ring shows how hard the car is working, and an “R” appears when regenerative braking recovers energy.
Battery and range
Set the charge level before you leave and watch the battery drain. At the end, see how much battery the trip used and how far the remaining charge would go at that trip's consumption.
Charging cost
Enter your electricity price and currency. Every trip shows what it would cost to recharge the energy it used.
Grid CO₂
Set your electricity grid's carbon intensity—the world average is the default. Every trip shows the CO₂ behind the electricity it used.
Popular EVs, or your own
Choose from 14 reference EVs from Tesla, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, Ford, Chevrolet, BMW, Cadillac, and BYD—or configure a custom car, SUV, van, or truck.
Route-aware physics
The calculation accounts for speed changes, climbs and descents, aerodynamic drag, stops, and regenerative braking, second by second.
Trip history
Every trip is saved with its results, plus running totals of distance, energy, average consumption, charging cost, and CO₂ across all your trips.

Will an EV cover my commute?
See the real range and charging cost for your own routes before you buy.
Which one suits how I drive?
Pick a model, drive your usual route, then switch models and drive it again to compare consumption and range.
What does the way I drive cost?
See how speed, hills, and braking change consumption—and how much energy regenerative braking wins back.
What would electrifying cost?

Common questions
How the estimate works and what to expect
How does EV Simulator calculate energy use?
Each second it reads your speed and elevation from GPS. A physics model then works out the energy an EV would need: accelerating its mass, pushing through the air, climbing or descending, and drivetrain losses, minus the energy regenerative braking recovers.
Do I need an electric car?
No, and that's the main use case. Drive your current car with EV Simulator running, and it calculates what the same trip would take from an EV's battery.
How accurate is it?
It's an estimate based on physics and each vehicle's published specifications. Real consumption also depends on things the app can't see, such as outside temperature, heating or air conditioning, tyres, payload, and battery condition. Treat the results as an informed estimate for your route, not a measurement.
Which vehicles are supported?
Fourteen popular EVs are built in, with their battery size, weight, and aerodynamics. You can also set up a custom car, SUV, van, or truck with your own weight and size.
How is the charging cost calculated?
It's the energy the trip used multiplied by your electricity price per kWh. Charging losses aren't included, so a real bill is usually a little higher.
What does the CO₂ figure mean?
It's the CO₂ released generating the electricity the trip used: energy used multiplied by your grid's carbon intensity. The default is 0.40 kg per kWh, and you can change it in Settings.
Is it safe to use while driving?
Start the trip before you set off and keep your eyes on the road. Use a phone mount, or let a passenger handle the app. Please follow your local laws on phone use while driving.
Is EV Simulator free?
Yes. It's free to download and use on Android, supported by ads. No account and no subscription.
What happens to my location?
Location is used to calculate your trip, and your trip history is stored on your phone. See the Privacy Policy for details.
