Meta has previously said output per engineer increased 30%, with some heavy users of AI tools achieving much larger gains. The company views this as evidence that smaller teams can accomplish work that once required many people.
Why it matters
AI adoption is becoming an organizational question, not merely a software upgrade. If every saved hour automatically becomes another hour of expected output, companies may gain capacity without employees experiencing meaningful relief.
For product teams, the durable advantage will come from deciding deliberately where AI-generated capacity goes: faster releases, higher quality, experimentation, reduced workload—or simply more tasks.
